Comments regarding Security, Timing, Accessibilty, Conduct (edited from an announcement about the Livingston-Abrams Lecture program and from emails sent to conference registrants:
Security: We will have enhanced security procedures in coordination with both DU Campus Safety and the Denver Police Department, both of whom will be present for the duration of the program.
For the Livingston-Abrams Lecture (Sunday March 22, evening: After guests are checked in at a registration table, all visitors will pass through a metal detector before gaining entry to Davis Auditorium. All bags coming into the auditorium will be checked. Bags that activate the magnetometer will be searched.
Timing: Schedule is very full. Please keep to announced times! For the Livingston-Abrams Lecture, doors to Davis Auditorium will open at 5:45 PM.
Accessibility: The doors that lead directly to the second floor of Sturm Hall involve a long flight of stairs. If you require an accessible entrance from the first floor, please notify Josh Furman in advance so we can prepare to assist you.
Conduct Expectations: The University of Denver is committed to a culture of robust debate, open dialogue, and facilitation of free expression on its campus. When speech or other forms of creative expression are disrupted, an unacceptable denial of freedom may result. Acts of protest or disagreement with a speaker on the University campus may not unduly interfere with communication between the speaker and the audience. If such interference ensues, the parties responsible for it shall be notified that this is unacceptable. If the parties continue to violate the right of free expression of the speaker, Campus Safety will use measures to stop the interference, which may include physical removal from the area or venue.
Book Sales: Following the event, a limited number of copies of the book will available for sale in the Sturm Hall lobby outside the auditorium.
A reminder about Tuesday Tours: If you haven’t already, there is still a little time left to sign up for Tuesday’s itinerary of tours exploring Jewish Denver and Trinidad. RSVP here - Tuesday Tours. Contact Jordan Bennett at Jordan.Bennett@DU.edu with questions.
A note on the weather and the altitude: While this week’s mid-March heat wave is supposed to break by Sunday, please remember to bring a water bottle with you. We don’t want anyone to get dehydrated or suffer from altitude sickness!
For those staying at the Conference Hotel: You should have received an email with some further information about transportation.
